Federal & State Funds

Working Together to Maximize Investments
Utah’s counties play a critical role in delivering essential services, but they cannot do it alone. Strong partnerships with state and federal agencies help counties maximize their investments, stretch local dollars, and ensure communities receive the resources they need. By collaborating across levels of government, counties can unlock funding that supports infrastructure, public safety, economic development, health, and more.
Key Resources for Counties
Funding Opportunities Portal
Developed by the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget (GOPB), this centralized portal bring together state and select federal funding opportunities in an easy-to-search database. Designed for local governments, residents, and nonprofit/for-profit organizations the portal provides:
  • Brief descriptions of available funding programs
  • Key details like matching requirements
  • Direct links to agency program websites for full information
Federal Funds Tracker
Recent disruptions in federal program funding have created challenges for counties working to maintain critical services. The National Association of Counties (NACo) Federal Funds Tracker provides timely analysis of these interruptions and their impacts on programs that support county operations.
Why It Matters
By staying connected to both state and federal resources, counties can identify opportunities to support essential community services and long-term growth, while leveraging partnerships to stretch limited local funds.
